by Jesús Rubio Gamo with Roberto Provenzano and Alberto Alonso

Friday 12|7 pm

BOLERO is a piece on tenacity, on the line between the light-hearted and the serious, on the crossover between pleasure and exhaustion. It could also be described as a dance about the passage of time, relationships that last ‘a lifetime’ and the artist’s memories of their parents from when they were young.

The work shares a sense of the artist’s take on the urban landscape of Madrid and is, most definitely, quite similar to the melody of Ravel’s Boléro, to love and to other traditional genres of Spanish music such as coplas and other boleros: something that, being done so often, almost always ends up breaking.
